The first Maldives Border Miles holders to obtain the first gold tier are George Corbin and his daughter!
George Corbin, a tourism pioneer in the Maldives, and his daughter Georgia Corbin, the very first child visitor to the Maldives, achieved the world’s first Abaarana (Gold) Tier of the Maldives Border Miles, the world’s first destination loyalty program.
During an exclusive occasion held at the Velana International Airport’s VIP Lounge, the Minister of Health, Honorable Ahmed Naseem, awarded them with the renowned Abaarana Tier. Mr. Corbin met Honorable Minister , Naseem in the Maldives Embassy in Sri Lanka during 1971, and they later collaborated to develop tourism to the Maldives. George Corbin was an Italy-based diving trip operator at the time, and he has made significant contributions to the tourist business ever since.
George Corbin and his daughter came in the Maldives on February 15, 2022, to take part in some of the celebration festivities marking the Maldives’ Golden Jubilee of Tourism. Mr. Corbin led the first party of visitors to the Maldives, primarily journalists and divers, on February 16, 1972. They were all captivated by the Maldives’ un-spoilt natural beauty, the archipelago of dispersed islands, and the marvel beneath the water.
Members of the Abaarana Tier receive the most preferential offerings, where the most enticing offer for this Tier is free VIP services. They are also eligible for significant discounts from all of the Maldives Border Miles partners.
