In celebration of World Earth Day 2025, Dhigali Maldives partnered with the local community of Raa Meedhoo for a heartfelt tree-planting initiative on Tavaathaa, an uninhabited island cherished for its natural beauty and communal gatherings. The event was inspired by this year’s Earth Day theme: “Our Planet. Our Power.” — a call to action to harness our collective strength in protecting and preserving the environment.
The Dhigali team, community leaders, and young students from Raa Meedhoo united to plant trees on Tavaathaa; a beloved island in Raa Atoll, cherished for its role in hosting picnics, school excursions, guests and traditional community gatherings. The day was not only about planting but also about learning: students participated in a short educational session about the history and significance of Earth Day, and the importance of protecting natural habitats.
“This collaboration reflects the spirit of unity and shared responsibility,” said Christian Szabo, General Manager of Dhigali Maldives. “World Earth Day reminds us that our actions, no matter how small, have the power to create meaningful change. It’s our planet — and our power — to protect it.”
This annual initiative continues to be one of Dhigali Maldives’ most cherished sustainable traditions. As a resort deeply rooted in the natural beauty of the Maldives, Dhigali is committed to preserving its surroundings through community involvement, environmental awareness, and thoughtful action.
With each tree planted, we honor our planet and reaffirm our commitment to sustainability — today, and for every Earth Day to come.
