In celebration of Earth Day 2025, Sirru Fen Fushi – Private Lagoon Resort, took a meaningful step towards sustainability and community engagement by organizing a tree planting event on Maroshi Island in collaboration with Maroshi Munavvara School and the Maroshi Council.
Demonstrating the resort’s deep commitment to both environmental conservation and local partnerships, a total of 81 participants came together for the initiative, including: 20 guests of Sirru Fen Fushi, 29 students and 12 teachers from Maroshi Munavvara School, 10 council representatives, and 10 resort team members, including Sirru Fen Fushi’s dedicated Sustainability Team.
Together, the group planted 50 native trees, reinforcing the resort’s mission to not only protect Mother Earth, but also actively support the surrounding community through hands-on initiatives that leave a lasting impact. A special sustainability highlight of the event was the use of composted food waste from the resort to create natural fertilizer for the trees. This reflects the resort’s commitment to sustainable practices and responsible waste management, as well as fostering healthy plant growth.
In addition to the tree planting, guests of Sirru Fen Fushi enjoyed an enlightening island tour, immersing themselves in the rich local culture and exploring historical sites.
This project is part of Sirru Fen Fushi’s wider sustainability vision, aligning with the resort’s environmental efforts such as its Sustainability Lab, coral restoration programs, and plastic recycling initiatives.
Sirru Fen Fushi continues to lead by example in the hospitality industry, proving that protecting paradise and empowering local communities can go hand in hand.
