Celebrating the Cosmopolitan Ocean at Patina Maldives

We were delighted to be part of the Cosmopolitan Ocean celebration at Patina Maldives, Fari Islands on October 27, 2023.

Cosmopolitan Ocean is an event that brings together artists, healing practitioners, and entertainers to reimagine the essence of cross-cultural festivals, creating a metaphorical bridge between today’s globalized communities and the ancient traditions of the Indian Ocean.

Following a pleasant and smooth 45-minute journey to Patina (The resort is one hour ahead of the local time), we arrived at 9 a.m. After indulging in a delightful breakfast at the charming Portico restaurant, we made our way to the Art Atelier.

Patina x Stampd Capsule Collection Launch

The day kicked off with great excitement as the Patina x Stampd capsule collection was officially launched. This exclusive collection, curated by renowned Los Angeles designer Chris Stamp, showcased a range of stylish attire, including men’s and women’s T-shirts, button-down shirts, trunks, trucker jackets, and tote bags.

The roots of this collaboration can be traced back to Chris Stamp’s visit to Patina in November 2022. Fueled by shared good times and a plethora of Polaroid photographs capturing the island’s vibrant energy and its people, the partnership was born.

The Patina x Stampd capsule collection embodies an ocean-friendly ethos, mirroring the relaxed and laid-back styles that both Patina and Stampd are known for.

Learning to Breathe – Avery Whitmore

A blistering hot day, even in paradise could be a little overwhelming at times. Luckily for us, Avery Whitmore, a sound healer and wellness enthusiast, guided our senses through a journey to help rejuvenate ourselves amid the blazing afternoon sun.

Accompanied by the resonance of his crystal singing bowls, intricately dancing along to the rhythm of his hang drum, Avery conducted a breath work session that was nothing short of enchanting. A ceremonious work of art inspired by the forces of nature and the energy that flows within.

Pamela Longobardi Art unveiling

The evening’s program continued with the unveiling of the captivating permanent art installation titled “Ocean Archaeology of Our Time,” a creation by Pam Longobardi.

Pam is not only the Artist-in-Nature for the Oceanic Society but also holds the esteemed position of a distinguished professor at Georgia State University. Moreover, she has gained international acclaim as an exhibiting artist and has received numerous awards for her work.

In 2006, Pam established the Drifter’s project, which has garnered recognition in publications like National Geographic magazine, among others.

Her artwork showcased at Patina is a remarkable masterpiece, constructed entirely from plastic and debris collected from the Fari Islands. The sheer transformation of these materials into a work of art is truly astonishing and a testament to Pam’s creative brilliance.

We wrapped up the evening at Helios, savoring the most delectable cuisine, all the while reconnecting with delightful individuals from Patina and our valued industry associates. The Travelution team is deeply honored and filled with joy to have been a part of this event and to have the privilege of connecting with the extraordinary individuals who are driving positive change within the community.
