In the current month of January, an average of 4,341 daily arrivals are registered, with an average stay time of 8.7 days. As of the 19th of January, a total of 82,479 people had arrived, a 48 percent increase in comparison to the previous year.
Russia has become the leading market for Maldives tourism, accounting for 20.1 percent of overall visitor visits. The United Kingdom comes in second with 9.1 percent, while Italy comes in third with 8.5 percent of overall tourist arrivals. India, Germany, Ukraine, the United States, France, Saudi Arabia, and Austria are also among the top markets.
This year, the Maldives is also gearing up to commemorate 50 years of tourism in the Maldives - the Golden Jubilee anniversary of tourism in the Maldives.
Maldives experiences a 48 percent increase in tourist arrivals compared to January 2021.
