Easter at Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa unfolded as a vibrant expression of flavour, creativity and refined island living, bringing together exceptional gastronomy and fun-filled family moments. At the heart of the festivities, Michelin-Starred Chef Christian Sturm-Willms joined the resort for an exclusive culinary residency.

Head Chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant YUNICO, Japanese fine dining in Bonn, Chef Christian Sturm-Willms has established a distinctive culinary voice, where Japanese precision meets Mediterranean vibrancy and contemporary European influences. Since 2012, he has shaped YUNICO's identity, maintaining its Michelin star since 2016.

Throughout the week, introduced his cuisine through a series of curated moments. A sunset cocktail by the beach welcomed Marriott Bonvoy Elite members for an intimate encounter with the chef, where a selection of his signature canapes offered a first glimpse into his culinary world.

The highlight followed at Tabemasu, where Chef Sturm-Willms partnered with the resort's Executive Chef, Muthuraman Subramanian, for a refined four-hands dinner. The five-course menu was crafted with precision and contrast, featuring creations such as Yellowfin Tuna "Yukke" & Grilled Scallop with avocado cream and masutado ice, alongside a Beef Tenderloin elevated by a delicate nut butter foam, with each course paired with a curated wine selection. The experience played with temperature, texture and balance, including Chef Muthu's Agedashi Tofu soup topped with a yuzu kosho sorbet, offering a contrast of hot and cold. The dessert, Muscovado l<ombu tart, a signature YUNICO creation, offered a refined final note to the culinary journey.

On Easter Sunday, the celebration continued with a festive buffet, complemented by a dedicated chef's corner and live cooking station, offering an immersive experience of his creations.

Beyond the table, the celebration extended into a week of family experiences inspired by a playful farm theme. At the Family l<ids Hub, younger guests explored a programme of activities including arts and crafts, cooking classes, scavenger hunts, sand golf, kids night camping and the traditional Easter Egg Hunt, complete with a visit from the Easter Bunny.

True to Le Meridien's spirit of creative exchange, the collaboration was also brought to life behind the scenes. Chef Sturm-Willms, alongside his Sous Chef Jannik Schrack, hosted a dedicated session with the resort's culinary team, sharing insights into their journey and the discipline behind achieving Michelin recognition. Melanie Hetzel, Food & Beverage Manager and Sommelier at YUNICO, led workshops with the service teams, offering valuable perspectives on the nuances of Michelin-level service, as well as focused sessions on wine and sake, bringing fresh inspiration and expertise across the resort.
