According to a social media announcement by Mohamed Firaq, Managing Director of Ace Aviation Services, who serves as flydubai’s Maldives agent, the cargo services will operate from Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport to Velana International Airport starting Thursday.

Firaq noted that the operations will run as cargo-in-cabin flights and are scheduled to continue until April 29. He also confirmed that the Civil Aviation Authority granted approval for the flights the previous day.

In his statement, Firaq expressed appreciation for flydubai’s initiative during what he described as challenging circumstances.

The development comes as ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to disrupt regional air travel, creating logistical difficulties for the Maldives. A significant portion of goods required for the tourism industry is typically transported via air cargo routes through the Middle East, making the disruption particularly impactful.

Earlier, the government stated that it is in talks with airlines to identify solutions and reduce the effects of these supply chain challenges.
