In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, Maagiri Hotel, in collaboration with Hope for Women, hosted a meaningful event aimed at empowering and inspiring young girls. Organized under Maagiri Hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the event brought together influential women leaders, professionals, and youth to engage in dialogue, mentorship, and celebration of girls' rights and potential.
The event opened with a vibrant networking session accompanied by high tea, where attendees had the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and build valuable relationships. It served as a welcoming platform that encouraged open conversation and fostered a sense of community among women and girls from diverse backgrounds.
Keynote speeches were delivered by notable figures who have made significant contributions to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Maldives. Chief Justice Ms. Aishath Shujune delivered an inspiring address highlighting the importance of access to education, leadership opportunities, and legal protections for girls. Aminath Shirani Naeem, CEO of the Family Protection Authority, emphasized the role of strong policy frameworks in safeguarding the rights of young girls. Aneesa Ahmed, Co-founder of Hope for Women, reflected on the journey of advocacy in the Maldives and the need to continue supporting the next generation of female leaders.
A highlight of the event was the interactive segment titled “Table Talks: Her Story,” where participants engaged in guided discussions centered around personal stories, challenges, and aspirations. This segment created a safe and empowering space for girls to voice their thoughts, learn from one another, and gain inspiration from the lived experiences of women leaders.
The International Day of the Girl Child celebration at Maagiri Hotel was a statement of commitment towards a more inclusive and equitable future. Through this collaboration, Maagiri Hotel and Hope for Women reaffirmed their dedication to creating opportunities and platforms that uplift, educate, and empower girls across the Maldives.
