These include the establishment of the island’s water and sewerage systems, the construction of the Power House, expansion of healthcare facilities, and the funding of two teachers’ salaries for eight consecutive years. AFTF also financed the construction of a stage with professional lighting and donated a fully equipped computer lab to the local school. This latest donation of waste management equipment marks yet another milestone in the foundation’s mission to uplift local communities and promote sustainable island living.
“Sustainability is more than a buzzword for us-it’s a responsibility,” said Ms. Sarah Moosa. “This initiative reflects our deep-rooted values of environmental care and community partnership. It’s a proud moment for Meeru Maldives and the entire CCR family.” Mr. Sebastien Doussin, Divisional Vice President at dnata, also emphasized the broader impact of the initiative, stating, “As a group, we are deeply committed to championing health, safety, and environmental responsibility, and we’re proud to work with partners who actively bring these values to life.” The event was attended by representatives from Crown & Champa Resorts, MATI, KASA Holdings, dnata Travel Group, and the Dhiffushi Council, reflecting a unified commitment to responsible tourism and resilient, empowered communities.
