Azerbaijan Airlines has officially commenced direct flights between Baku and Malé, with the inaugural flight arriving at Velana International Airport at 9:45 AM yesterday. This new route is set to enhance travel connections between Azerbaijan and the Maldives, making it easier for Azerbaijani tourists to access the Maldives' famous attractions.
Mohamed Mihad, Chief Commercial Officer of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), expressed that the new flight route will significantly strengthen tourism ties between the two countries, offering Azerbaijani travelers seamless access to the Maldives’ renowned destinations.
Jamil Manizadeh, Chief Commercial Officer of Azerbaijan Airlines, highlighted the convenience that direct flights to the Maldives will bring, particularly during the winter season. He noted that the flights offer a more streamlined travel experience for those seeking the Maldives as a prime holiday destination.
The airline will operate two flights per week on the new route, utilizing its modern Airbus B787E aircraft for the journey. This development further opens up opportunities for tourists from Azerbaijan to explore the Maldives in greater comfort and ease.
