Maldivian Airlines will add two A330-200 Airbus planes to their fleet through dry leasing, with the aim of increasing the number of flights and offering more long haul destinations. The planes should arrive in the Maldives in the first or second quarter of the year and will have both Economy and Business class, with a minimum of 25-30 seats in the latter. The airline will also acquire one A321 LR Airbus, although a date has not been specified. The Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Services (IAS), Aishath Jennifer, explained that the A330 planes will enable longer distance flights to destinations such as Europe or China. Additionally, Maldivian Airlines will receive two ATR72 planes for domestic flights and one ATR42 plane is expected to arrive later this year. The airline’s branding and logo are also set to undergo changes.
