The World’s First Overwater Zuma Restaurant to debut at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi!

The launching of Zuma, the world-renowned Contemporary Japanese concept, at the award-winning Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi will take the iconic resort’s collection of ten distinct culinary experiences to the next level.

Zuma is a restaurant founded by chef Rainer Becker in 2002, inspired by informal izakaya-style Japanese dining which takes a modern approach to the traditional style of casual dining. Zuma has established itself globally with locations in London, Hong Kong, Dubai, Istanbul, Miami, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, New York, Rome, Las Vegas, and Boston by combining the greatest ingredients with knowledge and respect for the classic Japanese cuisine.

Not only will Zuma Maldives serve signature Zuma delicacies such as thinly sliced seabass with yuzu, truffle oil, and salmon roe, roasted lobster with shiso ponzu butter, and spicy beef tenderloin with sesame, red chile, and sweet soy sauce but, the restaurant will also have a designated lounge area where guests can enjoy Zuma’s distinctive beverages.

Zuma Maldives is inspired by the natural beauty of its magnificent setting, incorporating natural materials and indigenous design techniques to complement its breath-taking views of the crystal-clear Indian Ocean. Combined with Zuma’s signature style and elegance, the new restaurant, which will open early this year, is set to deliver a truly unforgettable experience to its international clientele.

Guests staying at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi may reap the benefits of the resort’s many activities, such as unwinding in one of the 10 magnificent spa treatment villas, exploring the ocean’s incredible marine life, cycling or walking around the island’s gorgeous white sand beaches. This Beautiful Private Island is ideal for those seeking the ultimate retreat, as well as unequaled levels of solitude and personalized care.
