Minor Hotels Appoints Chief Development and Luxury Officer

Minor Hotels has announced the appointment of Omar Romero as the Chief Development and Luxury Officer, a newly-created position, as the brand continues to expand globally. His extensive knowledge and global expertise will drive Minor Hotels’ expansion and strengthen its prestigious mark worldwide.

Prior to the appointment, Romero carried out the role of Chief Development Officer at Six Senses where he led the global development team for more than half of his tenure. With more than two decades of expertise and in-depth knowledge of the luxury hospitality industry, Romero spearheaded the signing of over 50 Hotel Management Agreements and numerous branded residence projects during his career.

As the Chief Development and Luxury Officer at Minor Hotels, Romero will drive the global development strategy of the brand while identifying new business opportunities and overseeing the planning and execution of projects, and managing relationships with key stakeholders. Based in Bangkok, while working closely with Minor Hotels’ senior leadership team, Romero will also play a significant role in shaping and supporting the curation Minor Hotels’ luxury brands, ensuring the delivery of exceptional experiences in every project.

Having acquired a degree from the renowned Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and Les Roches Hotel Management School, Romero brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise and passion to his work. His appointment in this new role follows a string of senior hires as the group continues expanding globally. Adding to its collection of luxury properties in the Maldives, Minor Hotels, in partnership with a private equity fund managed by Ares Management, prepares to open NH Collection Maldives Reethi Resort in the fourth quarter of 2025.
