The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has partnered with Chinese celebrity Victor Ma and the Tiger Shark Residence, with support from Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives) and Maldivian, the national airline, to produce a short film promoting global marine conservation. Filmed on Fuvahmulah Island, the project aims to raise awareness of biodiversity and the urgent need
for ocean preservation.

Victor Ma, a 28-year-old Chinese actor, singer, and curator, is known for his breakout role as the runner-up in the 2017 talent show “The Coming One”. Since then, he has earned widespread acclaim for his original music, dynamic performances, and authentic interactions with his audience. With a fan base of over 16 million in China, Victor’s influence spans across film, music, and entertainment, making him a significant voice in promoting
environmental causes.

Fuvahmulah Island, located at the southern tip of the Maldives, is a diver’s paradise, known for its crystal-clear waters and diverse marine life. In the film, Victor Ma is seen diving alongside sharks, emphasising the harmony between humans and the underwater world. These powerful images highlight the natural beauty of the ocean and underscore the importance of conservation efforts. Additionally, scenes of beach cleanups during the shoot serve as a reminder of the critical role public participation plays in protecting marine ecosystems.

With coordination from MMPRC, Maldivian contributed by facilitating the shoot, providing domestic flights, and presenting equator-crossing certificates to the production team. This partnership reflects the ongoing commitment of MMPRC and Maldivian to sustainability and environmental protection in the Maldives.

Victor Ma’s involvement in this project is expected to amplify global awareness of marine conservation, inspiring collective action to safeguard marine biodiversity and promote a sustainable future for the world’s oceans. The Maldives has long been at the forefront of marine conservation, with initiatives that include the establishment of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, coral restoration projects, beach cleanups, and the protection of marine animals. MMPRC remains dedicated to preserving the Maldives’ unique marine environment for future generations.
