Progress in Building Mandarin Oriental Bolidhuffaru Reef Resort
DAMAC International has recently reported that the construction of its highly anticipated Mandarin Oriental Bolidhuffaru Reef Resort in the Maldives is advancing at an impressive pace. The resort’s development is reaching key milestones, with beach villa foundations and structures well underway, and beach reclamation works nearly finished. The island’s infrastructure is also nearing completion.
Mohammed Tahaineh, General Manager of Projects at DAMAC International, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are pleased with the progress at the Bolidhuffaru Reef Resort. Through our partnerships with skilled experts in the industry, we are confident that the resort will successfully achieve its aim of becoming a distinctive offering in a world-class destination.”
Earlier this year, several contracts were awarded to consultancies to provide a range of structural, engineering, and consultancy services for the project. Additional contracts were signed for services such as signage and VR consultancy, as well as environmental impact assessment services, aligning with DAMAC’s commitment to sustainability.
Groundbreaking for the Mandarin Oriental Resort took place in January 2023, and since then, significant strides have been made in the construction of villas and essential infrastructure. The sprawling luxury resort, spanning 34 hectares, is set to welcome guests in 2025 and is located in the captivating Bolidhuffaru Reef in the South Male Atoll.
The resort is poised to offer an opulent sanctuary for discerning travelers seeking an unparalleled experience in the stunning Maldives. Conveniently situated just 25 minutes from Male by speed boat or 40 minutes by yacht, the resort aims to redefine luxury hospitality standards in the region.
Drawing inspiration from the renowned architect Mies Van Der Rohe’s designs, the resort’s architecture blends simplicity and sleekness with the untouched natural beauty of the island. With an ocean view from every room and facility, the resort will house 120 keys, presenting a variety of accommodation options, including 1 to 4-bedroom beach and water villas, catering to diverse guest preferences.
Elegance, prestige, and sophistication will characterize both the interiors and exteriors of this extravagant resort. The interiors, designed by acclaimed architects Saota and detailed by F&B designers Stickman Tribe, will offer an exceptional experience. The design house HBA London is responsible for crafting the guest rooms, spa, and other facilities.
The resort will boast a remarkable selection of world-class F&B specialty restaurants, promising an extraordinary dining journey for culinary enthusiasts. Guests can indulge in seven dining venues, including three specialty restaurants and an exclusive pool bar.
Staying true to the Mandarin Oriental tradition, the resort will host the renowned Mandarin Spa, providing a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. Across 12 treatment suites, vitality pools, hammam, saunas, steam rooms, and a beauty salon, the expert wellness team will offer their signature services. Families will be delighted by the inclusion of kids and teen clubs, ensuring a memorable stay for younger guests.
Additionally, indoor and outdoor event spaces will be available for guests to use for various purposes. For those seeking adventure, the resort will feature a Dive Centre and Water Sports Centre, offering an array of thrilling activities to explore the captivating marine life and surrounding waters.
Moreover, the Learning Academy will offer enriching experiences, reflecting the resort’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and immersive guest experience.
In the ever-evolving landscape of luxury resorts, the Mandarin Oriental Bolidhuffaru Reef Resort stands as a testament to innovation, luxury, and the harmonious blend of architectural elegance and natural splendor.
