Batik Air Launches Direct Flights from Malaysia to the Maldives
Batik Air, formerly known as MalindoAir, has introduced nonstop flights connecting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to the Maldives, marking a milestone for South East Asian travelers and bolstering the tourism sector in the Maldives. The inaugural flight, carrying 121 passengers, received a warm welcome at Velana International Airport with a special ceremony featuring a water salute.
Concierge Group Maldives will handle the airline’s sales, reservations, and ticketing services in the Maldives as its General Sales Agent (GSA). With a frequency of six direct flights per week, Batik Air operates Boeing 737 aircraft with a seating capacity of 162 passengers for its Maldives operations. The airline’s extensive network, encompassing 50 destinations including Malaysia, Thailand, and Australia, positions Batik Air as a key contributor to the growth of the Maldives’ tourism industry.
The introduction of Batik Air’s direct flights, coupled with other airlines such as Flyness from Saudi Arabia and the upcoming Virgin Atlantic flights from the US to Velana International Airport, provides global travelers with more convenient options to explore the Maldives’ breathtaking beauty and renowned hospitality.
As an increasing number of airlines choose to serve the Maldives, the country’s tourism industry is poised for substantial growth, attracting a larger influx of visitors and cementing the Maldives’ reputation as a top-notch international destination.
