Batik Air, formerly known as MalindoAir, has introduced nonstop flights connecting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to the Maldives, marking a milestone for South East Asian travelers and bolstering the tourism sector in the Maldives. The inaugural flight, carrying 121 passengers, received a warm welcome at Velana International Airport with a special ceremony featuring a water salute.

With a frequency of six direct flights per week, Batik Air operates Boeing 737 aircraft with a seating capacity of 162 passengers for its Maldives operations.
