For more than three decades, Seagull Café has been a familiar part of life in Malé. Now, for the first time in its history, the café is expanding beyond its original home with the opening of a second location in Hulhumalé.

Located at Aira Residences, Fithuroanu Magu, Phase 1, next to Seagull Grocery, the new Seagull Café Hulhumalé marks an important milestone for the brand and the beginning of a new chapter in a story that has been closely connected with Malé for generations.

From one home in Malé to a second in Hulhumalé

The story behind Seagull Café stretches back to the early 1980s, when a café operated from the same Malé location under the name Gabiano. Following a change in management in the early 1990s, it became Seagull Café.

Over the decades that followed, Seagull Café became a familiar gathering place in Malé — somewhere generations of customers have met friends, shared family meals, celebrated occasions or simply stopped by for an ice cream.

More than thirty years later, the opening in Hulhumalé represents the first expansion of Seagull Café beyond its original Malé home.

Seagull Café Hulhumalé brings many of the familiar flavours and experiences associated with the original café to a new setting, alongside an updated menu designed for both adults and children.

Customers will find a selection of much-loved Seagull favourites together with new additions, while the café’s signature ice creams — enjoyed by generations of customers — will naturally remain an important part of the Seagull experience.

The new location has been created as a relaxed and welcoming space for families, friends and the wider Hulhumalé community, whether visiting for a meal, meeting over coffee or simply stopping in for our signature ice cream.

The opening also brings Seagull Café closer to the many long-time customers who now live and work in Hulhumalé, while introducing the café to a new generation.

A new generation of Seagull memories

While the new café represents an important expansion for Seagull Group, its purpose remains simple: to create the same sense of warmth, familiarity and community that has characterised the original café for decades.

The opening of Seagull Café Hulhumalé is therefore more than the addition of a second location. It is an opportunity to carry a longstanding Malé story into a new community — preserving what people have loved about Seagull while allowing something new to grow around it.
