As October unfolds over the Maldivian lagoon, JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort sets the scene for an exceptional night of fine wine, cuisine and conversation, welcoming Simon Obholzer of Simelia Woestkloof Vineyards and Johann Innerhofer of Capelands Wine Estate for an exclusive Winemakers’ Dinner on 18 October 2026.
Set against the beauty of the island, guests will be invited to savor a thoughtfully curated selection of South African wines while meeting the masters behind them. Simon and Johann will personally guide guests through the experience, sharing the stories, character and craftsmanship behind their wines.

“We are delighted to welcome Simon and Johann for a special evening that brings together distinguished wines, refined cuisine and genuine storytelling. Their presence offers our guests a rare opportunity to discover South African winemaking directly from the people who have shaped it,” says Arup Chakraborty, Director of Food & Beverage.
Simon’s Simelia Woestkloof Vineyards traces its roots to the slopes of Groenberg Mountain, where vineyards have flourished since the 1700s. Johann brings decades of international fine-wine expertise, having founded the International Wine Festival of Merano before establishing Capelands Wine Estate in South Africa.
From the vineyards of South Africa to the shores of Kaafu Atoll, the dinner brings together distinctive terroir, culinary artistry and the people behind some of the region’s celebrated wines.
