Hilton has revealed plans to bring its Tapestry Collection brand to the Maldives through the signing of Coco de Mer Maldives, a new lifestyle resort expected to welcome guests in June 2027. The project marks the brand's first appearance in the country and represents another step in Hilton's continued expansion across the region.
Situated just a 25-minute speedboat journey from Velana International Airport, the upcoming 75-villa resort is designed to offer convenient access while delivering an upscale island retreat. Hilton noted that the property's location near the nation's main international gateway would make it an attractive choice for travellers seeking both comfort and accessibility.
Guests staying at Coco de Mer Maldives will have access to a variety of facilities, including several dining venues, a wellness centre, a watersports hub, pickleball courts and a range of leisure activities. Staying true to the Tapestry Collection concept, the resort will embrace its own distinctive character while offering experiences inspired by the culture and surroundings of the Maldives.
The agreement is part of Hilton's wider strategy to strengthen its luxury and lifestyle portfolio throughout Southeast Asia. Alongside the Maldives announcement, the hotel group also confirmed two additional developments in Thailand: Andamanda Voyage under the Curio Collection by Hilton in Phuket and the debut of the Tapestry Collection brand in Chiang Mai.
Alexandra Murray, Hilton's Vice President and Regional Head of Southeast Asia, said Thailand and the Maldives continue to stand out as leading destinations for lifestyle travel, making them ideal locations for the company's independent hotel brands.
She explained that both Tapestry Collection and Curio Collection are well suited to destinations where visitors are looking for more than traditional accommodation, instead seeking authentic experiences that reflect the local environment and culture. Murray added that these projects demonstrate Hilton's strategy of introducing the most suitable brands into key tourism markets while expanding its lifestyle portfolio across the region.
The arrival of Coco de Mer Maldives will further strengthen Hilton's presence in the Maldives. The company currently operates four resorts under four different brands: Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa and SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton. Once the new resort opens, Hilton will have five properties in the country representing five separate brands.
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island remains the group's flagship Conrad Hotels & Resorts property in the Maldives, while Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi represents Hilton's luxury Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand.
The Curio Collection brand made its Maldivian debut through SAii Lagoon Maldives at CROSSROADS Maldives, followed by the opening of Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa in 2022, which introduced Hilton Hotels & Resorts to the destination.
With Coco de Mer Maldives joining the portfolio, Tapestry Collection will become Hilton's second lifestyle collection brand operating in the Maldives alongside Curio Collection. The brand is known for featuring independently managed hotels that preserve their unique identity while benefiting from Hilton's global reservation network and loyalty programme.
Earlier this year, Hilton announced that both Curio Collection and Tapestry Collection had each surpassed 200 hotels worldwide, reflecting the company's ongoing investment in expanding these brands across both resort and city destinations.
The Maldives project also contributes to Hilton's broader ambition of growing its luxury and lifestyle portfolio across Asia Pacific to more than 250 properties. The company expects to more than double the size of its lifestyle presence in Southeast Asia as demand continues to increase for hotels that deliver locally inspired experiences.
Maria Ariizumi, Vice President of Development for Southeast Asia at Hilton, said interest from property owners across the region remains strong as travellers increasingly favour lifestyle-focused accommodation. She noted that these latest signings will help Hilton expand in popular resort and cultural destinations while strengthening partnerships with local developers and extending the reach of its award-winning brands.
Once operational, Coco de Mer Maldives will participate in the Hilton Honors loyalty programme. Guests booking directly through Hilton's official channels will be eligible for member-exclusive rates, the ability to combine points with cash payments, complimentary standard Wi-Fi and access to digital features through the Hilton Honors mobile app.
