Soneva, the resort group behind Soneva Fushi, Soneva Jani and Soneva Secret in the Maldives, has appointed Akira Shiota as General Manager of Soneva Secret, the group's most intimate property at the westernmost tip of the Maldives.

Akira brings more than 25 years of hospitality leadership, having opened and led resorts across Japan, Bali and the Maldives. 

It is his philosophy, though, that feels most at home at Soneva. Akira sees the hotelier's craft as the creation of intangible things: unexpected moments, and the kind of memories guests carry with them for life.
