Kudahithi Sands: Redefining Luxury Island Escapes

Kudahithi Sands is poised to redefine the concept of a “home away from home” for the ultra-wealthy, as reported on Euro News.

Set atop the pristine waters of Maldives, this exclusive private island will offer a new level of luxury under the visionary leadership of Mr. Mohamed Ali Janah. While the Maldives has long been a coveted destination for affluent travelers, Kudahithi Sands unveils a distinctive and elite experience.

Mohamed Ali Janah, Group Chairman of Hotels and Resorts Investment Maldives Group (HARIM Group) and a special advisor to the UN on tourism, disclosed this grand project at the UN’s World Tourism Day event in Tbilisi, Georgia. “I am building the most exclusive private island in the world,” Janah proudly declared.

Guests interested in staying at Kudahithi Sands will have to bid for the privilege. Located just a 30-minute boat ride from Malé International Airport, the island spans 14,000 square meters and promises unparalleled privacy and opulence. With only six villas and a private yacht at their disposal, visitors can expect an intimate, secluded retreat perfect for high-profile gatherings or ultra-luxe family getaways.

In collaboration with global real estate agents, Mr. Janah is working to refine the auction model, where a limited number of nights will be released annually, allowing bidders to purchase exclusive time on the island.

Mr. Janah, widely regarded as the Maldives’ leading construction magnate and a trusted advisor to the Maldivian president, is confident that this innovative approach will set new price records. “In the Maldives, private islands are already fetching $120,000 per night. I believe Kudahithi Sands will surpass that,” he told Euronews Travel.

Mr. Janah describes Kudahithi Sands as the Maldives’ version of Necker Island, Richard Branson’s famous private retreat. Set to open in 2025, Kudahithi Sands will offer an entirely unique experience, detached from international hotel brands or any other properties in the Maldives.

“It will be a singular, isolated private island. You will see no one but yourself. There will be no paparazzi, no outside news—a truly exclusive, high-end escape,” stated Mr. Janah.

The appeal of Kudahithi Sands lies in its promise of absolute privacy and luxury, allowing guests to feel as though they are in the comfort of their own home. Visitors can bring personal staff, from chefs to butlers, to tailor every aspect of their stay, including dining in the island’s private restaurant. The island’s surrounding reef offers extraordinary snorkeling opportunities, and a private yacht is available for leisurely exploration of the nearby waters.

Previously as a private island, Kudahithi Sands is already a favorite among celebrities, having hosted stars like Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, who rented the entire island for $45,000 per night in 2018. With relaunched as an auction-based, private haven, Kudahithi Sands is set to become the ultimate destination for those seeking unrivaled luxury and exclusivity.
