Now, 133 years later, the brand stands strong in its fifth generation, remaining a cherished family-owned enterprise.

The distillery is located at the active volcano site, ensuring that the surrounding land and water are enriched with minerals, which are said to play a major role in shaping the rum’s unique and smooth flavor. The brand’s rums are aged in white oak barrels, some over 80 years old, giving the spirit a distinct flavor profile. Dry plantain leaves are used to seal the top and bottom of these barrels to maintain the liquid volume.
