Emirates and Maldivian Airlines Forge Interline Partnership
Beginning September 15th, Emirates passengers have the option to reserve their travel plans through the official website, the Emirates mobile app, or their preferred travel agents for flights that are available immediately, according to a statement from the airline. This initiative aims to make it more convenient for Emirates customers to access 16 popular vacation destinations in the Maldives, extending beyond the capital city, Malé.
Both airlines have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), demonstrating their commitment to exploring opportunities for collaboration.
Under this interline agreement, travelers heading to the Maldives will enjoy a smooth and hassle-free travel experience. Passengers arriving at Velana International Airport in the North Malé atoll can easily connect to Maldivian Airlines’ services, which serve various domestic locations within the Maldives, granting them access to sought-after island getaways.
Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Maldivian, stating, “We are thrilled to establish a partnership with Maldivian to expand our presence in multiple locations within the Maldives. Through this collaboration with the Maldivian flag carrier, we can provide passengers with seamless connections to a wide range of islands within the country via Malé.”
Ibrahim Hamdhan Mohamed, General Manager – Commercial at Maldivian, shared his excitement about the partnership with Emirates, a global aviation leader. He emphasized that this collaboration would enhance the visibility of Maldivian’s extensive domestic network and aligns perfectly with their goal of delivering smooth connectivity to travelers.
Emirates has a rich history in the Maldives, playing a pivotal role in fostering tourism and trade growth in the region for more than three and a half decades. Currently, the airline operates 28 weekly flights between Dubai and Malé, offering passengers flexibility and convenience.
Emirates customers have the opportunity to reach various airports in popular atolls via Malé, including Dharavandhoo Island (DRV), Faresmathoda Airport (FMT), Funadhoo Airport (FND), Fuvahmulak Island Airport (FVM), Gan Island International (GAN), Kooddoo Island (GKK), Hanimaadhoo Island Airport (HAQ), Kulhudhuffushi Airport (HDK), Hoarafushi Airport (HRF), Kaadedhdhoo Island Airport (KDM), Kadhdhoo Island (KDO), Madivaru Airport (LMV), Maafaru International Airport (NMF), Maavarulu Airport (RUL), Thimarafushi Airport (TMF), and Ifuru (IFU), as mentioned in the statement.
