In the first 105 days of 2023, the Maldives saw an impressive 19.3% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, with over 600,000 arrivals recorded as of April 15, 2023. This is a significant rise from the 508,295 arrivals recorded during the first 105 days of 2022.
The top 10 markets for the Maldives continue to be Russia, India, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, USA, France, China, Switzerland, and Austria. Russia holds the largest market share at 12.1%, followed by India at 10.6% and the United Kingdom at 9.8%.
It is interesting to note that there have been some changes in the top 10 markets compared to the same period last year. The United Kingdom, which was the leading market in 2022, has dropped to third place with a market share of 9.8%, while Russia and India have maintained their positions in first and second place, respectively. Additionally, Saudi Arabia, which was in the top 10 last year, has been replaced by China in 2023.
