The Maldives delegation made a grand entrance on the first day of ITB Berlin 2023, the world's largest travel trade show which is back after a three-year hiatus. The convention, considered the travel industry's premier forum for exchanging ideas, features over 400 experts who will share their knowledge on the latest trends and challenges facing the tourism industry.
Comprising 91 companies with 233 participants from resorts, travel agencies, guesthouses, liveaboards and airlines, the Maldives contingent showcased its presence in a two-story stand inspired by traditional architectural elements. With its minimalist yet elegant design of thatched roofs and vibrant underwater photos, the stand gave visitors the feeling of stepping into the Maldives. The Maldivian culture was also on full display with dance performances, cooking demonstrations, and concerts by the local band The Kabans.
The theme of this year's ITB Berlin, "Mastering Transformation," celebrates the travel industry's post-COVID rebound and transformation. The Maldives is a prime example of mastering transformation, having responded creatively and successfully to the challenges brought on by the pandemic. Its tourism industry is innovative and adaptive to changing global demands and guest preferences.
