The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is taking steps to address the parking issues faced by residents of Hulhumale', a town experiencing a growing population. HDC is developing a smart parking application to alleviate these difficulties, with a pilot project currently underway. The corporation is also working on creating the country's first smart parking zone, located near the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal, which will provide a seamless parking experience for users. The smart parking zone will feature auto-boom gates, CCTV cameras for added security, and a digital board displaying parked vehicle information. Users will be able to park for both short-term and long-term periods, and special areas will be designated for persons with special needs. To ensure easy accessibility, HDC is developing a digital application for Android and iPhone devices that will allow users to reserve parking slots, make payments, receive notifications for empty slots, and receive navigation options to guide them to available spots.
