SriLankan Airlines will resume flights to China in April.
As China reopens its borders, SriLankan Airlines plans to restart commercial operations to China in the first week of April 2023, with three weekly flights to Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou. Prior to the pandemic, China was a key source market for inbound tourism to Sri Lanka and one of Sri Lanka’s prime leisure traveller groups, and Sri Lanka is preparing for a big recovery in China upon its return.
On 3 April 2023, SriLankan will begin passenger flights to Shanghai. As a result, flights will depart from Colombo to Shanghai on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and return from Shanghai to Colombo on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Flights from Colombo to Beijing will also begin on 3 April 2023, with weekly departures to Beijing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The return flights to Colombo will take place on the following days.
SriLankan Airlines now provides a weekly service between Colombo and Guangzhou, with a second flight beginning on March 4, 2023. Furthermore, beginning 4 April 2023, SriLankan’s services to Guangzhou will become a thrice-weekly operation, with flights departing from Colombo to Guangzhou every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, flights from Guangzhou to Colombo will depart.
With Chinese travellers eager to make up for lost time in globetrotting, SriLankan will be working closely with the local travel trade to reignite enthusiasm for Sri Lanka as a leisure destination in China. In addition to specifically curated holiday packages and deals, SriLankan offers Chinese customers the convenience of paying via Alipay and WeChat Pay.
