The Taj Maldives has appointed Corinna Luebbe as the resort’s first female general manager.

In accordance with Indian Hotels Company’s (IHCL) ‘She Remains The Taj’ framework, Taj Maldives is pleased to welcome its first female Cluster General Manager, Corinna Luebbe. Ms Luebbe has a remarkable worldwide career spanning over 25 years, and she is a visionary leader, community champion, enthusiastic environmentalist, and avid scuba diver.

In her new position, she will be in charge of the operations of IHCL’s award-winning Maldives properties, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa. Ms Luebbe’s career in hospitality has taken off alongside prominent hotelier brands such as Aman Resorts in France and Indonesia, as well as the Mandarin Oriental in New York. During her brilliant career, she had even worked at New York’s famed Pierre hotel.

Her successful career with Taj began when she joined the pre-opening crew at the Taj Exotica in Mauritius. Following that, she held numerous positions at Taj hotels, including Hotel Manager at Taj Boston and General Manager at Taj Campton Place in San Francisco. In the latter, she was instrumental in winning the restaurant’s second Michelin star and paving the route for the prestigious Forbes Star Award.

Speaking on the appointment, Ms Luebbe, Cluster General Manager of Taj Maldives remarked “It is a moment of pride for me. Maldives is the ideal destination for travellers of all ages, known for its turquoise waters and adventure activities. Its rich biodiversity and natural beauty make it one of the most sensitive ecosystems to operate in, and I look forward to furthering Taj’s initiatives to conserve this paradise on earth while curating experiences for guests that will create memories of a lifetime.”

Ms Luebbe has a degree in Economics from the Fachhochschule Wilhelmshaven in Germany and is known for her innovative energy, guest-centric approach, and strong focus on sustainability. Sustainability is one of Taj Maldives’ major pillars, and her arrival coincides with the brand making significant advances in its green activities. Taj Exotica Maldives has struck an arrangement with Swimsol to build one of the Maldives’ largest solar parks.

Her track record of success and remarkable leadership abilities have earned her countless awards throughout the years. In 2019, she was elected General Manager of the Year for Medium-Sized Hotels, and she was recognized one of the ‘Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business 2018’. She is also an active part of the San Francisco community, having served on the boards of the Hotel Council of San Francisco and the San Francisco Travel Association. She is proficient in English, French, and German.

The ‘She Remains the Taj’ concept was created as a result of IHCL’s attempts to promote diversity within the company and establish a culture in which female visitors are treated in the greatest esteem. The comprehensive framework promotes women-centric activities at all levels of the organization, from stakeholders, partners, and workers to visitors and the general public. Under this framework, IHCL aspires to increase women’s workforce involvement to 25% by 2025, with 25% of leadership roles at forthcoming ICHL hotels dedicated for women.
