Flydubai postpones Gan flights until June
Flydubai, a low-cost airline based in Dubai, had planned to commence service to Addu on February 4, but has now delayed the flights until the end of June.
According to Mohamed Firaq, Managing Director of local agent Inner Maldives, Flydubai has decided to postpone flights to Addu till June 24.
As a result of the decision:
- Those who have bought tickets to go next month would be accommodated on the existing Dubai-Male trip.
- There are no additional expenses for changing the travel date.
Firaq stated that the decision has been made:
- Because additional time and activities are required to advertise tourism in the south, tour companies have requested aircraft delays.
“We can participate in eight exhibitions before embarking on our flights and work towards promoting tourism in the southern part of the country,” he said.
Flydubai began operations in the Maldives in 2013, with the introduction of direct flights to Velana International Airport in Male, the capital. With the addition of the additional daily service to Gan, the carrier’s frequency in the market will climb to 28 flights per week.
Flydubai is the first UAE carrier and just the second foreign airline to fly at Gan International Airport.
