Aitken Spence Hotels has elevated Manujaya Fernando to the position of General Manager – Sales & Marketing for its Maldives operations, entrusting him with the commercial leadership of Adaaran Resorts and Heritance Aarah.
Fernando assumes the role after progressing through several senior positions within the company, most recently serving as Deputy General Manager – Sales & Marketing. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the growth of the group's Maldivian brands by strengthening partnerships with international travel trade stakeholders, expanding market reach and supporting sustained commercial success across major global source markets.
With extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Fernando has cultivated a global outlook through visits to more than 52 countries. His international exposure has given him valuable insight into evolving traveller preferences, cultural diversity and the dynamics shaping today's hospitality landscape, helping him create strategies tailored to a wide range of markets.
Fernando combines a strong commercial mindset with a passion for brand development and destination storytelling. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, is a Chartered Marketer and Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM UK), and has also earned professional certification from CMA Australia. His diverse academic and professional background has supported the development of forward-looking marketing initiatives, strengthened brand visibility and contributed to long-term commercial growth. His work in international sales, strategic marketing and business development has played an important role in reinforcing the market presence of Adaaran Resorts and Heritance Aarah within the Maldives' competitive hospitality sector.
The appointment comes as Aitken Spence Hotels continues to strengthen its position in the Maldives through its portfolio of resort brands.
