The Maldives has won the title of “Best Romantic Destination” in the international category of the Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2022. The honor was announced at the ITC Maurya in New Delhi’s 11th Readers’ Choice Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2022, which took place on November 16, 2022. Ibrahim Shaheeb, the High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India, accepted the honor.

The Travel & Leisure India’s Best Awards 2022 honor the top in hospitality, travel, and lifestyle. The 60-day online voting period culminates in an evening gala that combines the travel, hospitality, and lifestyle communities under one roof, where the winners are announced. Additionally, the Maldives just won the title of “World’s Leading Destination” for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022 in the World Travel Awards.

For the first time in the Maldives’ history, MMPRC also earned the title of “Leading Tourist Board” this year. With numerous prior marketing initiatives and efforts concentrated on the region, the winning of the award further underlines MMPRC’s efforts to promote the destination in the Indian market.
