UNWTO Global Summit at Crossroads Maldives and Paradise Island Resort & Spa
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the United Nations World Tourism Organization Global Summit on Community-based Tourism is to be held at Crossroads Maldives and Paradise Island Resort & Spa from 15th to 16th June 2022.
As part of the Maldives’ golden jubilee in the tourism industry, the ministry is working with the organization to arrange three big events of theirs. Hence, the 34th joint meeting of the UNWTO Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia, as well as the UNWTO Ministerial Roundtable on Tourism Resilience through Innovation and Digitalization in Asia and Pacific, and UNWTO Global Summit on Community-based Tourism will be taking place.
This CAP-CSA Joint meeting will be the first face to face commission meeting since 2019, following the pandemic. The meeting will be held on the morning of 14th June at Crossroads Maldives. Moreover, on the afternoon of the same day, the UNWTO Ministerial Roundtable will bring together the ministers and invited industry leaders to discuss the tourism developments.
Furthermore, the UNWTO Global Summit will be providing a platform for global tourism leaders to talk about how community-based tourism helped reach the sustainable development goals along with the challenges that come with it. What’s more, thematic sessions on gastronomy tourism, agro-tourism and community-based tourism will also be held. Locals as well as international professionals in the industry will be present for this at Crossroads Maldives and Paradise Resort & Spa on the 15th-16th of this month.
