Aeroflot to increase number of flights to Maldives
Aeroflot, which is Russia’s national airline, has said that they have decided to increase the number of flights to the Maldives.
Few months ago, they were suspended from flying to several countries due to the pressures from Europe and the United States because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Even the flights they recently started to Sri Lanka were suspended later.
Due to their flights to Sri Lanka getting canceled, many believed that their flights to Maldives will get canceled too. However, earlier this week, the Tourism Ministry has stated that no such decisions have been made and that flights will continue. Some travel agents who are in charge of bringing tourists from Russia to Maldives have also said the same.
Right now, Aeroflot is the only airline in Russia that directly operates to the Maldives so a high number of tourists from Russia are to be expected with their increase of flights to Maldives.
Over 68,000 tourists from Russia have visited Maldives so far this year so it is no wonder that they are Maldives’ second largest source market.
