Maldivian Hoteliers shining at the top of the industry!

We have been seeing Maldivians working in the tourism and hospitality industry rising, proving that we have people who has the capability of working at top managerial positions at resorts under international luxury hotel brands in our small country.

Mohamed Ashraf who has worked in various departments in the tourism and hospitality industry for more than 20 years, has been allocated as the General Manager of Jumeirah Maldives Olhahali, a resort under one of the prestigious international hotel chains in the world known as Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts.

This is a first for a Maldivian to be given the position of the General Manager of a resort that is run by a well-known international hotel brand. Mohamed Ashraf have worked at managerial roles at resorts that are run by big brands in the Maldives, Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spa and Niyama Private Island. Whereas he also worked alongside with Nautilus Maldives as their General Manager since April 2019. As per a colleague of Ashraf, he stated that the success of Ashraf is very well deserved and highlighted how professional he is when it comes to work always.

Another rising Maldivian hotelier is a figure who has also worked in many high positions at hotels and resorts. Solah Mohamed was keen to become a professional football player during his young years, however he turned to pursue a career in the hospitality industry instead. He has worked at various resorts in the Maldives and abroad at high positions, where he has achieved more than 18 years of experience in the industry.

Currently Solah Mohamed is the Cluster General Manager of Zaya Hospitality in Dubai, an exclusive community of limited-edition beachfront estates and water villas. He is a people-oriented person with a great eye for detail and encourages Maldivian youth to take up leadership positions in the Maldives tourism industry.

It is indeed a great achievement for the Maldives tourism and hospitality industry to have these potential hoteliers rising in this challenging field, working alongside prestigious international hotel brands.
