The Maldives Foreign Ministry in hands with the United Kingdom Ministry has opened a British High Commission in the Maldives for the very first time. The high commission was opened by the State Minister of the Maldives Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Khaleel, and by the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for South and Central Asia, the UN, and the Commonwealth Lord Tariq Ahmed, on 17^th of February.

During a video message sent for the opening ceremony of the first European High Commission that opened in the Maldives, the Maldives Foreign Minister, and the President of the United Nations 76th General Assembly stated, “UK is a very important partner for the Maldives’ development and the opening of a British High Commission in the Maldives attests to the growing relationship between both countries.”
