The Maldives Ministry of Tourism has announced the introduction of special annual awards for the tourist facilities in the Maldives. As per the guidelines 3 awards will be handed over for those tourist organizations that promotes local artists in the country and 4 awards will be given for those organizations that contributes to the welfare of their company employees.

The application for the special annual awards will commence in June, where those resorts, hotels, guest houses and liveaboards that are eligible to apply for the awards can proceed with the applications. The awards will also be focused on those tourist establishments that contributes to celebrating women working in the industry, creates employment opportunities and promotes local businesses/products. The new awards that have been introduced are connected to the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Maldives Tourism Industry this year.

Since this year Maldives will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee year of its Tourism Industry, varieties of programmes and events are being planned by the Tourism Ministry and other stakeholders.
