Maldivian Passport grants visa-free entry to 88 countries, with or without a visa on arrival or through ETA. The Foreign Ministry has been trying to enhance the Maldivian passport to make it more convenient for Maldivian passport holders to travel to various locations throughout the world.

As per the Guide Passport Ranking Index, the Maldivian passport presently ranks on the 61st position. Visa-free entry and visa-on-arrival privileges are available to Maldivian passport holders in countries such as Singapore, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates. This gives it an overall mobility score of mediocre.

Maldivian passport holders, however, are required to obtain a visa in order to reach nearly 142 places throughout the world, which necessitates extensive travel arrangements. The whole European Union, the United States, and Australia are among the countries that need a visa. Now there are a total number of 54 Maldives passport visa-free countries, 32 countries that require Maldives visa on arrival, and 1 ETA destination.
