Turkish Airlines is set to expand its Maldives operations for the 2026 summer season by adding one more weekly flight between Istanbul and Malé, reinforcing a key long-haul connection linking the Maldives with Europe and other global regions. This additional service will operate from 13 May to 20 October 2026 on the outbound route (TK 740), with return flights (TK 741) scheduled from 14 May to 21 October 2026. The updated schedule introduces a midweek rotation, with departures from Istanbul on Wednesdays and from Malé on Thursdays, bringing the total number of weekly flights on this route to six.
Under the revised timetable, flight TK 740 is scheduled to depart Istanbul at 20:20 and arrive in Malé at 06:30 the next day. The return service, TK 741, will leave Malé at 08:00 and reach Istanbul at 14:20, ensuring efficient connections through the airline’s main hub.
This increase in service frequency is expected to accommodate growing demand from European markets while offering passengers more travel options, particularly as airspace conditions continue to shift in parts of the Middle East. With Istanbul serving as a major global transit point, the route provides seamless access to destinations across Europe, North America, and beyond, making it an important gateway for long-haul travellers heading to the Maldives.
Industry observers believe the expanded schedule will not only boost tourist arrivals but also enhance cargo capacity during the busy summer season. The move underscores Turkish Airlines’ strong commitment to the Maldives as a premium destination and supports broader national efforts to expand and diversify international air connectivity.
