Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has announced 21 internal promotions across several departments, effective March 1, 2026. The appointments recognize team members whose dedication and commitment continue to shape the resort’s guest experience and operational excellence.

Front Office & Guest Experience
Ahmed Moosa - Director of Airport Operations
Ahmed Moosa has been promoted to Director of Airport Operations, building upon his previous role as Airport Manager, where he oversaw the arrival and departure experience that defines the beginning and end of every guest’s journey to the island. Ibrahim Nausad has been appointed Assistant Front Office Operations Manager, progressing from his position as Assistant Transport Manager.
Mohamed Shiyam- Chief Personal Concierge
Mohamed Shiyam advances to Chief Personal Concierge, having served as Personal Concierge, reflecting his dedication to anticipating guest needs and delivering the thoughtful service that defines the Waldorf Astoria experience.
Ahmed Aiman has been promoted to Front Desk Supervisor, previously serving as Front Desk Agent, while Aminath Rifasha Ibrahim steps into the role of Guest Relations Supervisor, recognized for her ability to create genuine connections with guests. Ismail Zidhan moves from Bell Service Attendant to Front Desk Agent.
Food & Beverage
Ahmed Ali- Food & Beverage Manager
The resort’s culinary program is further strengthened through several key promotions. Ahmed Ali has been appointed Food & Beverage Manager, advancing from Chief Sommelier. Hamid Hamdhee steps into the role of Chief Sommelier, following his tenure as Assistant Chief Sommelier.
Francesca Antonelli has been promoted to Outlet Manager, while Karthikeyan Rajendran, Ahmed Naufal, and Mohamed Faarish advance to Assistant Outlet Manager roles.
Syamlal Sivan Rema has been promoted to Head Bartender, continuing to elevate the resort’s beverage experiences, and Ahusan Shareef advances to Food & Beverage Team Leader.
Culinary
Within the resort’s kitchens, Ganesh Datt Bhatt has been promoted to Sous Chef, having previously served as Junior Sous Chef. Pratima Shrestha advances to Chef de Partie from the role of Demi Chef.
Commercial
Khaled Jarrah- Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications
Khaled Jarrah has been promoted to Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications, progressing from Marketing & Communications Manager. In this role, he continues to shape the resort’s brand presence and storytelling.
Aishath Sina Ali has been appointed Sales Executive, stepping up from her role as Commercial Coordinator.
Human Resources & Finance
Mette Kiers has been promoted to Assistant Learning & Development Manager, recognizing her dedication to cultivating the growth and potential of the resort’s team members. Kimberly Reyes Tapang advances to Finance Executive, having previously served as General Cashier & Finance Administrator.
Engineering & Landscaping
Adam Mueen has been promoted to Landscape Supervisor, building on his previous role as Head Gardener and continuing his stewardship of the island’s natural surroundings.
