Greater Bay Airlines has officially commenced charter flights to the Maldives, further strengthening the destination’s aviation ties with East Asia. The carrier’s first arrival, operating as flight HB2500, touched down at Velana International Airport and was greeted with a ceremonial water salute, marking the start of regular charter connectivity. The inaugural service carried 174 passengers.
The airline will offer nonstop charter services linking Hong Kong and Malé using the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, introducing additional seat capacity at a time of strong regional travel demand.
With this development, Greater Bay Airlines becomes the second carrier to operate direct flights between Hong Kong and the Maldives, highlighting the destination’s rising profile in the East Asian market and reinforcing broader initiatives to expand source markets and enhance international air connectivity.
