The final began with players entering the pitch to the FIFA anthem, followed by the Maldivian national anthem. Chief guests then joined the opening ceremony to greet the players before the much-anticipated clash commenced.

The match itself was a display of defensive resilience from both sides. Neither team could find the net in the first half, nor in the second, pushing the contest into penalties.
