Held from September 18–21, 2025, in celebration of World Wellness Weekend, the island came alive with movement, mindfulness, and energy as over 40 participants joined a diverse programme of activities. The event was endorsed by Visit Maldives Corporation and organised in collaboration with Total Fitness Group (TfG) as race partner, Coral Glass as media partner, and Maldivian as transport partner.

The celebrations officially began on the evening of September 18 with a special shakeout run led by professional marathoner Sunny Schippers. The event, held at Meeru Bar, provided participants with a warm welcome that included a presentation on the race details, bib handouts, and an overview of the scenic running path winding through Hideaway’s lush jungle trails and turquoise shoreline.

Guests and participants then took part in two unique race categories – both in a relaxed, scenic route through the island’s natural landscapes:

-      10K Challenge – A competitive run which consists of two rounds around the island

-      5K Island Fun Run – A fun run which consists of one round around the island

Hideaway Maldives proved to be the ideal setting for the race, with the resorts expansive 33-hectare island offering lush jungle trails, vast beaches, and low elevations perfectly suited for running, biking, walking, and swimming. Its naturally curved shape also creates a safe environment for water sports, adding to the island’s versatility for active experiences. With just 110 villas spread across this generous space, Hideaway offers the unique ability to host an event of this scale on a Friday morning without disrupting the enjoyment of regular guests. The lively, energetic atmosphere during the run was contagious, encouraging everyone to join in the fun and celebration.

Beyond the races, the weekend featured an inspiring line-up of wellness clinics led by Professional Fitness Trainer Iufa, yoga and stretching sessions guided by Grant Twible from TRX, and in-house practitioner Athul, and transformative sound baths conducted by Naga Healing. The combination of sunrise and sunset yoga, fitness classes, mindfulness practices, and immersive sound healing therapies allowed participants to restore balance amidst the island’s natural beauty and learn more about wellness and fitness to incorporate a better lifestyle in their own lives for healthier mind and body.

The celebration continued with a post-run awards + trophy ceremony where first, second and third places in both men and women’s categories were announced, and finisher medals were handed out to all participants.

Guests can enjoy world-class options such as tennis, Padel, pickleball, golf, basketball, beach volleyball, table tennis, football, badminton, and a floating aqua park, further cementing Hideaway’s reputation as the Maldives’ ultimate destination for sport and recreation.

MHRR 2025 follows the resort’s successful warm-up event earlier this year—a mini-Ironman marathon in June—which sparked enthusiasm among both local and international guests.

With the overwhelming success of this debut edition, the Maldives Hideaway Resort Run is set to return annually, promising even bigger and greater experiences in the years to come – solidifying its place as a signature wellness and sporting highlight in the Maldives calendar.
