In a joint effort to champion environmental sustainability, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, in collaboration with Housing Development Corporation (HDC), organized a community clean drive at Hulhumalé on September 8, 2025. From 6:45 in the morning, more than 20 associates from the resort volunteered their time to collect litter around the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal Lakudi Jetty and Central Park, successfully removing 1.5 tons of debris and revitalising one of the capital’s most vibrant public areas.
The initiative forms part of Sheraton Maldives’ broader corporate social responsibility program and reflects its Green Globe Certification (2024–2025), a globally recognised standard for sustainable tourism. For HDC, the clean drive further aligns with its mission of promoting sustainable urban development in Hulhumalé. Together, the partnership underscores the importance of collective action in safeguarding the Maldives’ natural and urban environments.
“At Sheraton Maldives, we believe that sustainability is best achieved through collaboration,” said Greg Allan, General Manager of Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa. “This clean drive not only supports our environmental commitments as a Green Globe-certified resort but also inspires our associates and the wider community to work together toward a cleaner, greener future.”
This initiative builds on the resort’s long-term environmental strategy, which includes waste reduction programs, energy-efficient solutions, coral conservation projects, and the adoption of renewable practices. By engaging with local partners and empowering its associates, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa continues to strengthen its role as a sustainability leader in the Maldives.
