Conrad Maldives Rangali Island along with General Manager Ian Barrow, as part of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose initiative, has announced the successful renovation and donation of its hydroponic garden system at ADH. Dhigurah School. This project, which originally launched in 2015, continues to support sustainable agriculture on local islands. The hydroponic garden handover, which took place on 27th April 2025, enhances the system installed 9 years ago, providing students and the community with a renewed opportunity to engage in innovative farming practices.

Dhigurah was the first island to receive this initiative, followed by seven additional islands that have also benefited from hydroponic technology as well as other facilities such as computer labs and furniture. The renovated gardens will enable students at ADH. Dhigurah School to cultivate fresh vegetables and herbs, promoting healthier eating and environmental awareness. The project exemplifies Conrad Maldives’ commitment to fostering food security and sustainability in the region.

“We are thrilled to revitalize our hydroponic gardens at Dhigurah School,” said Touriq Ali, Travel with Purpose Champion at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. “This initiative not only supports local agriculture but also empowers the next generation to embrace sustainable practices.”

The hydroponic system utilizes advanced technology to grow crops without soil, significantly reducing water usage and allowing for efficient production in limited spaces with 346 slots to plant any leaf based vegetables along with another 50-pot fertigation system. This innovative approach aligns with the resort’s mission to promote sustainability and community resilience.

Conrad Maldives remains dedicated to its Travel with Purpose initiative, focusing on initiatives that positively impact communities and the environment. The continued success of the hydroponic gardens showcase the resort’s commitment to supporting local islands and enhancing the lives of their residents.
