The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which currently operates five resorts in the Maldives, has announced the promotion of Mohamed Hussain Shihab as Area Director of Human Resources for the country.

Shihab previously served as Cluster Director of HR for InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort and Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, becoming one of the youngest Maldivians to step into a cluster HR leadership role within an international hotel brand

With over a decade of global experience spanning the USA, Sri Lanka, the UAE, and the Maldives, Shihab has held key HR positions at renowned hospitality brands, including Hilton, Anantara, and IHG. His expertise in fostering diverse, high-performing teams has earned him a reputation as a dynamic leader who champions inclusivity, resilience, and collaboration.

In his new role, Shihab will oversee HR operations across IHG’s growing portfolio in the Maldives, driving talent development and people-focused strategies to support the group’s continued success in the region.
