B. Atoll Council has signed a contract with Freedive Maldives on 20th March 2025, to set a world record in B. Atoll in celebration of the World Tourism Day. The contract was signed by Fahudh Faiz on behalf of Freedive Maldives and Ahmed Afrah, President of B. Atoll Council, on behalf of the atoll council.
Scheduled for 3rd October 2025, the event “Baani” is expected to bring together an estimate of about a thousand people to snorkel in groups in the Angarfaru region of B. Atoll. According to Freedive Maldives, the event will be open to B. Atoll islands, resorts, and the entire Maldives.
As per the B. Atoll Council, the main objectives of Baani event is to raise awareness about the negative impacts on nature and promote the atoll as an exciting holiday destination to the entire world. The world record attempt is the largest and first of its kind to be organized within the atoll.
B. Atoll Biosphere Reserve is expected to come on board as a partner for this event.
